About Echuca Moama Winter Blues Festival
The Echuca Moama Winter Blues Festival is a free blues festival held each July across the twin towns of Echuca in Victoria and Moama in New South Wales. It is run by a volunteer-led, not-for-profit committee and is supported by the Victorian Government through the Regional Events Fund. Festival programmer Jon Howell says it has been bringing people together through live music for more than 25 years.
The next festival runs from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 July 2027, according to the official website.
The festival uses a free-entry venue model. Instead of a single gated site, music runs across pubs, clubs, cafés, restaurants, outdoor spaces and special event venues, and festival-goers move between them. The Port Precinct and surrounding venues form the main hub, and most venues are within easy walking distance. Start times are staggered so people can roam between gigs. The full program is published in a free festival app, with a printed schedule in the Riverine Herald the week before.
The 2026 festival ran from 23 to 26 July 2026, with more than 50 artists playing over 150 performances on more than 20 stages. The program included Jeff Lang and Dom Turner, 19-Twenty, Ray Beadle, Kathleen Halloran and Nathan Cavaleri, alongside returning favourites and first-time festival artists. The music ranged from traditional blues and roots to soul, acoustic music and blues-rock.
The one ticketed event is the Wrap Party on Sunday night, a fundraiser for the organising committee where festival artists jam together. In 2026 it moved to the Moama Bowling Club, with Jesse Redwing and his band backing Ray Beadle, Cass Eager, Sweet Felicia and others. Both VIP tickets, with a guaranteed seat and dinner, and general admission were offered, and the Wrap Party usually sells out.
The festival is family-friendly, although pubs become 18+ after dinner. Dogs are welcome in outdoor public areas on a lead, but each venue sets its own rules. Auslan interpreters work at the Hopwood Gardens Rotunda Stage on Saturday and Sunday from 11.30am. Echuca is about a three-hour drive from Melbourne and is served by V/Line. Accommodation sells out quickly, so book early.
Accessibility
Auslan interpreters work at the Hopwood Gardens Rotunda Stage on Saturday and Sunday from 11.30am, and selected performances are interpreted live. A Changing Places facility is in the High Street Car Park, and there are public and portable toilets around town. In 2026 a festival shuttle bus ran on the Saturday between High Street and accommodation partners. Most venues are within walking distance of each other.
