About AFROPUNK Bahia
AFROPUNK Bahia is the Salvador edition of AFROPUNK, the festival of Black music and culture that started in Brooklyn. It began in November 2018, when co-founder Matthew Morgan announced Salvador as the first Latin American home of AFROPUNK. The Brazilian events are produced by IDW Company, and the 2026 programme also included one-day AFROPUNK Experience events in Rio de Janeiro on 15 August and Recife on 12 September. Salvador hosts the main two-day festival, which closes the Brazilian season.
The 2026 festival takes place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November at the Parque de Exposições de Salvador, on Avenida Luís Viana Filho in the Paralela district. This is the same site used in 2025, when the festival ran on 8 and 9 November. Gates open at 17:00 on both days.
Saturday features Jorja Smith, FLO, Emicida, Lazzo Matumbi, AJULLIACOSTA, Fantasmão and Telefunksoul. Sunday features Kehlani, Kelela, Gilberto Gil, Gaby Amarantos, NandaTsunami, Criolo and DJ Belle. Gilberto Gil makes his AFROPUNK debut, and Criolo plays a show dedicated to his album Nó na Orelha. Set times had not been published by early October.
The site has two sectors. The Arena includes the Black Carpet, brand activations, bars, toilets, an area for disabled visitors, a food court and a market of local businesses. The Banco do Brasil Lounge adds air-conditioned toilets, a space in front of the stage, and its own bars and food area. Tickets come as full price, half price and a social ticket that requires a donation of 1 kg of food on the day.
General sales opened in August with Arena day tickets at R$140 full price and R$70 half price. In the third batch on sale in October 2026, an Arena day ticket costs R$287.50 full price or R$143.75 half price. A Lounge day ticket is R$540.50 full price. Two-day passes cost R$488.75 for the Arena and R$918.85 for the Lounge at full price. A service fee of about 10% is added. Banco do Brasil Visa cardholders get 20% off single-day tickets. Half-price tickets are available to students, older people, teachers, blood donors, ID Jovem holders, disabled people and trans people, with proof required for some groups.
The age rating is 14, and under-14s may only attend with parents or guardians. Visitors over 14 need photo ID. During the 2025 edition, the city extended bus services and kept extra buses at the Acesso Norte, Pirajá and Mussurunga stations, and the metro ran through the weekend. Transport plans for 2026 had not been announced.
