About Rock the Mountain

Rock the Mountain is a music and arts festival held in Itaipava, a district of Petrópolis in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro state. It takes place at the Parque Municipal Prefeito Paulo Rattes on the Estrada União e Indústria. The organisers describe it as a festival that brings together nature, youth, sustainability, freedom, style, food and music in the hills of the serra fluminense.

The festival now runs over two consecutive weekends with the same line-up on each. In 2026 the first weekend is 30 and 31 October and 1 November, and the second is 6, 7 and 8 November. Tickets are three-day passports valid for Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the chosen weekend, and visitors cannot stay on site overnight. On Fridays gates open at 4pm and close at 4am, on Saturdays they open at noon and close at 4am, and on Sundays they open at noon and close at 2am, with main shows ending around 12:30am.

The 2026 line-up is led by Anitta, Jorge Ben Jor, Ivete Sangalo, M.I.A. and Jorja Smith. Day-by-day schedules are released in the week of the festival. Reports list 12 stages, including Floresta, Estrela, Aurora and Magic Disco.

The first weekend has sold out. For the second weekend, tickets sold through Sympla cost R$1,070 full price for a three-day passport, plus fees, or R$535 for meia-entrada. Half-price tickets are available to students, low-income young people, people under 21 and people over 60. A meia solidária ticket at a reduced price is open to anyone who donates 1 kg of non-perishable food at the entrance. R$2 from every ticket goes to the festival's #RespectNature sustainability campaign, and drinks are served in reusable cups costing R$10.

The age rating is 18, but minors may enter with their parents or a legal guardian, and children up to eight do not pay. There is no parking on site. An official transfer service, operated with the coach company BusUp, runs to the festival. Visitors usually stay in Petrópolis, Itaipava or travel up from Rio de Janeiro.
