About Cobargo Folk Festival
The Cobargo Folk Festival started in 1996 as a street festival in the main street of Cobargo, a village in the hinterland of the New South Wales Sapphire Coast. It has been held at the Cobargo Showground since 2004 and is produced by the Yuin Folk Club, a local not-for-profit group, with the help of more than 300 volunteers. The festival takes place on Djiringanj Country, part of the Yuin Nation, and its proceeds go back into music, arts and community projects in the region, including recovery from the 2019-2020 bushfires.
The 30th festival runs from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February 2027. Main concerts are on the Biamanga, Gulaga and Wandella stages, with the Yuin Folk Club Stage, The Crossing youth stage, a dance venue, workshops, poetry and spoken word, a session shed and a blackboard stage filling out the program. A First Nations program centres on the Yuin Elders' Yarning Tent, and KidBargo offers craft, music and games for children. The 2027 lineup so far includes Kate Rusby, The Spooky Men's Chorale, Daoirí Farrell, Eleanor McEvoy, Kutcha Edwards, Damien O'Kane and Ron Block, Kristina Olsen and Trouble in the Kitchen.
Tickets are sold through Humanitix. Early Bird adult weekend passes are $170 without camping or $240 with camping, and youth passes are $95 or $160. Children under 12 are free with an adult, and day tickets are available. Anyone camping must buy a weekend pass and camping online in advance. Youth aged 13 to 17 need a registered guardian aged 25 or over on site.
The showground campground has toilets and showers but no powered sites; phones and CPAP batteries can be charged at the Festival Office. Vehicles in the campground cannot move during program hours. The festival is licensed, so no outside alcohol is allowed in the licensed area, and glass and pets are banned, though accredited assistance animals are welcome. Since 2022 the festival has run a zero landfill program with no landfill bins.
The showground sits on a hillside, which limits access, but venues and toilets have been upgraded for wheelchair use. There are three accessible parking areas, a chill-out space and a first aid room. Shuttle buses run from Narooma, Tilba, Wallaga Lake and Bermagui throughout the weekend.
