About Download Festival
Download Festival is an open-air rock and metal festival held every June since 2003 at Donington Park in Leicestershire. It is the UK's largest rock festival, with more than 100 bands on several stages and 75,000 to 80,000 people attending in recent years. The site covers about 900 acres around the Donington racetrack, next to East Midlands Airport, and includes a large village area with stalls, bars and entertainment.
Download was set up as a successor to Monsters of Rock, which ran at Donington from 1980 to 1996. The first edition in 2003 was created by Stuart Galbraith and co-booked by Andy Copping. It began as a two-day event and grew to three days in 2005. The festival is owned by Live Nation. Festival Republic ran it until 2023, and it is now run by Far And Beyond. Between 2016 and 2022 the brand also held editions in Paris, Madrid, Hockenheim, Sydney and Melbourne.
The 2026 festival ran from Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14 June, with the main music days on Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June. Limp Bizkit headlined Friday, Guns N' Roses Saturday and Linkin Park Sunday. More than 90 acts were announced across the weekend.
The 2027 festival will run from Wednesday 9 to Sunday 13 June at Donington Park. The festival says 2027 has been its fastest-selling year, and as of October 2026 Late Bird tickets were on sale. No acts had been announced. Options include arena-only (no camping) and day tickets, three-night and five-night camping, campervan passes, a family campsite with a more relaxed setting, and a quieter campsite for people who want to rest at night. Big Green Coach travel-and-camping packages are also sold. Download Family is a membership scheme with monthly perks, merch discounts and presale access to selected rock and metal shows.
There is no separate accessibility ticket. Disabled customers buy a standard ticket and then apply to use the accessible facilities through the festival's accessibility page.
