About Green Man

Green Man is an independent music and arts festival held every August at Glanusk Park, near Crickhowell in Powys, Wales. The site sits in a valley in the Brecon Beacons, with the Black Mountains rising around the fields. Green Man began in 2003 as a one-day event for 300 people at Craig-y-Nos Castle near Brecon. It moved to Baskerville Hall near Hay-on-Wye before settling at Glanusk, and has grown into one of the UK's best-regarded independent festivals, with a capacity of about 25,000.

The music programme covers indie, folk, alternative, psychedelia and electronic music, from established headliners to new acts on smaller stages. Alongside the music there are areas for science, literature, comedy, film and a children's area. Traditionally the weekend ends with the burning of a giant Green Man figure, although the 2026 burning ceremony was cancelled because of wildfire risk. The Green Man Trust, the festival's charity, supports arts projects and young people in Wales.

The 2026 festival ran from Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 August. Mogwai, Wilco, Four Tet and Wolf Alice headlined.

Green Man 2027 takes place from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 August 2027 at Glanusk Park, and tickets have already sold out. According to the official ticket page, adult tickets cost £318, student and under-25 tickets £286, and settlement tickets £404, all excluding booking fees. Anyone still hoping to go can use the official resale service through Tixel. No acts had been announced when this record was compiled.

Weekend tickets include camping, and the settlement option offers earlier arrival for people who want a longer stay. Most visitors travel by car or by coach, and Abergavenny is the nearest railway station.

Green Man has a reputation for a friendly crowd, good food and drink, and no big brand sponsorship on the stages. It is popular with families as well as music fans, and its mountain setting makes the weekend feel quite different from larger commercial festivals.
