About Primavera Sound São Paulo

Primavera Sound São Paulo is the Brazilian edition of Primavera Sound, the indie and alternative music festival from Barcelona. The São Paulo edition was announced in December 2021, near the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the first festival took place in 2022 at the Sambódromo do Anhembi. Its bill included Björk, Mitski, Arctic Monkeys, Travis Scott, Lorde, Charli XCX, Arca and Phoebe Bridgers, and daily attendance reached about 55,000. The journalist Carol Prado called it the edition most loved by music nerds in recent years.

The festival returned in 2023 at the larger Autódromo de Interlagos, with The Cure, Pet Shop Boys, The Killers and Cansei de Ser Sexy. Attendance was lower than in the first year, at no more than 50,000 a day. Tickets for a third edition went on sale in early 2024, but that edition did not happen, and the festival dropped out of São Paulo's calendar for two years.

Primavera Sound now returns under the producer Bonus Track Entretenimento, known for events such as Todo Mundo no Rio, on what the company describes as a long-term contract. The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December at Interlagos.

The Saturday bill is led by The Strokes, FKA twigs and Lily Allen, with CMAT, Courtney Barnett, Danny L Harle, Nation of Language, John Talabot, Mannequin Pussy and Brazilian acts including Zé Ibarra, Black Pantera and Johnny Hooker. Sunday features Gorillaz, Arca, Yung Lean, underscores, Smerz, Ecco2K, Atarashii Gakko!, Gaby Amarantos, Ana Frango Elétrico, Machine Girl, DJ Ramon Sucesso and Juana Molina.

Tickets are sold through Ingresse. At general sale, the two-day Primavera Pass cost R$1,530 full price, a one-day Primavera Day ticket cost R$850.50, and the VIP area cost R$2,050.50. Half-price meia-entrada tickets and discounted solidarity tickets are also available. There is no camping. Interlagos is served by trains and buses from central São Paulo.

The festival offers a mix of established indie headliners, experimental electronic artists and new Brazilian music that differs from the city's larger pop festivals.
