About Golden Plains
Golden Plains is the autumn sibling of the Meredith Music Festival, run by the same team, known to fans as Aunty Meredith, on the Nolan family farm near Meredith in Victoria. The site, the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, sits on Wadawurrung Country in the Shire of Golden Plains, roughly halfway between Geelong and Ballarat and about 90 km west of Melbourne. The festival has been held since 2007 and keeps the rules that made Meredith known: one stage, no commercial sponsors, no advertising, free-range camping, BYO and the No Dickhead Policy.
Golden Plains Nineteen takes place over the Labour Day long weekend in 2027. Gates open at 8am on Saturday 6 March, music starts in the early afternoon, and everyone has to be off site by 1pm on Monday 8 March. The stage runs from Saturday afternoon to 5am Sunday, then from 10am Sunday through to 7am Monday. The lineup has not been released yet.
There is only one type of ticket. It costs $549 including the booking fee and covers entry, camping and parking for the whole weekend. Tickets are sold first through a ballot for subscribers, with entries closing at 10:19pm AEDT on Monday 12 October, and later for new subscribers, followed by an online sale on 28 October. Payment is by Visa or Mastercard. The event is all ages: under-18s must come with a parent or guardian and a signed consent form, and children under 12 get in free. Official capacity is 12,500.
Everyone camps on site, and the campgrounds sit close to toilets, drinking water and Helper Huts. Generators, gas, barbecues and glass are not allowed. Over-18s can bring their own drinks, except into the licensed bars. Other fixtures include the Meredith Eye, the Ecoplex outdoor cinema and the Community Tucker Tent, which raises money for local groups.
The accessibility page lists a 24-hour Helper Hotline, an accessible toilet and shower beside Welfare, two Ease of Access camping zones that need to be booked ahead, charging for health devices, Companion Card tickets and assistance animals on request. First Aid and Welfare are open around the clock, and the Supernatural Express buses run from Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat. The farm is hilly and uneven, though compacted paths link the main areas.
